Eclipsoscope: April 8, 2024 Solar Eclipse
“The old world is dying, and the new world struggles to be born.”
Today at 2:21PM EST, a solar eclipse will take place at 19° Aries. This symbolises the culmination of the strange journey we began on March 25 in the land of eclipses. Taking place in the second decan of Aries, this eclipse takes place at the supreme exaltation of the Sun; its brief occultation by the Moon reminds us that even the greatest powers are susceptible to fall.
Eclipses have historically been regarded as dangerous and inauspicious; according to some legends, the North & South Nodes were demons of eclipses - a severed head & tail, respectively. They would chase the Sun & Moon, and sometimes successfully swallow them - but the luminaries would always escape. This resulted in an eclipse 🐲🌚
This particular eclipse offers us a particular look into the meaning of ego & thirst for recognition, vs the inextricable ties we form. The desire of total victory of the self, or total abandonment into the bonds of a partnerships: “these violent delights have violent ends” — or something to that effect.
As intense and violent the desire for brightness and individuation might be, this eclipse indicates we must *release* in order to be free. We must not abandon ourselves to senseless desires of ego fulfilment or losing ourselves in relationships… but rather leave them behind. As you are released from the dragon’s body, ask yourself: what part of my egotistical desires must I release to be free?
