‘Rêverie’ Moon-Neptune Series: Dive into your Dreams

Imagine you’re in a secret cove on the beach, just after sunset. As the lights of the sky begin to turn into deeper shades of blue, the Moon rises and illuminates the ocean with strange, glimmering twinkles of light.

Your intuition guides you to the shore, and, as your body sinks deeper into the warm waters, you dive in head first. Before you is a deep, mysterious, enchanting world.

Welcome to the Ocean of Dreams.

This series is a deeply personal one that I have reflected on for many months now. While the spirits which ensoul the magical materia we create do so under very specific, brief conditions, the astrologer/magician is often led to certain signs & paths a long time before the actual date of creation. "Rêverie" is an invitation from me to you, on the path I’ve been led to for this magical occurrence. Please take my hand as we drift together amidst the currents of these enchanted seas 🌊

First, a reminder: what is astrological/talismanic materia? You can click this link to learn more about the conceptual fondation of this undertaking. In short, talismanic materia is the art of ensouling objects with the powers of certain planets or celestial bodies according to very specific rituals, and under unique (and often short-lived!) conditions. The person who wears the materia will then be able to enjoy the properties of the planet it was consecrated under (oils and body butters will last a couple hours, paper talismans a couple weeks/months, and metal/stone talismans are pretty much life-long companions).

The Moon-Neptune series is a powerful, mystic & relaxing one. In her domicile of Cancer and increasing in light, the Moon featured in this election invites us into a dream state, nourishing and appeasing. As the Traveler and Wanderer (she’s the fastest travelling body of our solar system, and is of primary importance in astrology as she brings about the influence of all the other planets onto our realm, the "sublimate realm"), the Moon invites us into an exploration of the senses that hide under the surface, beyond what we are used to: the exploration of new uncharted territories within and beyond.

Magic is primarily based on visibility: although Neptune is not visible to the naked eye, the close trine aspect (the most flowing, easing of all aspects) that the Moon makes to it creates a passage, a channel for Neptune to express his subtle, subconscious influence. The influence of these two planets, both in the water signs where they feel most at ease (Neptune in Pisces, Moon in Cancer) create a powerful path you are invited to explore.

During the elaboration of this series, I had the incredible opportunity to do snorkelling and diving in the Great Barrier Reef, a beautiful coral sanctuary. This experience gave me a powerful impression of the essence of this series. Under water, everything is different, and you have to give in to the complete unknown: creatures you’ve never seen before, some beautiful and some terrifying. As your body adapt to the foreign environment it’s in, your surrender to these sublime underwater forces.

In this moment, I was reminded of Jean-Luc Godard’s film "Farewell to Language). Before the trine to Neptune the Moon makes in the chart for this election, her last aspect is an opposition to Mercury in grounded Capricorn: an ultimate parting with conventional communication, before venturing into a world where language and words are a foreign concept. Underwater, communication is extremely limited: a few signs are used to express restricted conditions of life or death. But this doesn’t mean that understanding and communication are barren. On the contrary, a wealth of experiences, knowledge and beauty opens up to the curious wanderer - as one door closes, a portal opens.

The Moon-Neptune materia series was intended as an anti-productive one. The things it brings - psychic experiences, deeper visualisation abilities, relaxation, sleep and the time allocated to these activities - are all increasingly reduced in our day and age. We must always be productive, always optimise our time & energy to do something "useful" (read: profitable). Never mind the impact on our health, well-being or happiness. If anything, we become better at ignoring our need for play, rest, pure creativity just for the sake of it, but also of our "gut": our instincts and sometimes psychic abilities. In a supposedly "rational" world, magic is denied its place, and treated as something superficial or childish.

This Moon-Neptune materia invites you to explore your own world of play and fantasy. By creating the path into the deep water of your subconscious, this series invites remembrance of things past, the possibility to ease the mind and body into deep sleep and relaxation, and facilitates "third-eye opening" experiences - you can use it before going to bed, when pulling tarot cards or doing other forms of divination, or to invite psychic dreams. Away from the pressure & stress of daily life, you are invited to do *nothing*, to shut down your habitual reflexes and let yourself soak into this dream dive.

Attention: this series is particularly potent and strong. Lunar products are best used when one feels "grounded", and is not recommended for those who feel particularly agitated or prone to strong mood swings. Although this "reverie" is intended to be a gentle path, it is recommended to use the products when you feel calm and grounded enough to invite in psychic experiences that may be unfamiliar and/or unsettling.

• Generally speaking, the body butter is an inviting and versatile form: you can use it on your hands or body for a couple hours of relaxation and reverie.

• The oil is more potent and immediate in effects, and invites more vivid experiences. It also wears out after a couple hours.

• The paper & wax talisman is best for inviting precise effects, and will be potent for 2/3 months, after which the magical charge wears out. You can use it to keep on an altar (see how to build a Moon altar & remediate your Moon here) and/or make a prayer pertaining to the lunar realm: ask for safety during (astral) travel, vivid dreams or visions, or assistance with relaxation and divination exercises - this is more "targeted".

• The pearl-moonstone necklace & bracelet talismans are the most durable companions - talismans made of stones and/or metal are very long-lasting, pretty much a lifetime. You can get a talisman in order to facilitate lunar work, bring about greater effects and assistance from the Moon whenever you need it. This is ideal for those who want to bring these effects on a more permanent basis: nourishment, comfort, sleep and deeper psychic abilities.
