More than a DIY bath salts recipe, here I will teach you how to take advantage of astrological factors to create your own talismanic bath salts for love, charm, pleasure & money!

Let’s go back in time…
Last year, in November 2023, Venus moved into Libra. This is ordinarily a great time to create Venus talismans for things that pertain to her realm: love, romance, attracting friends, lovers & profit… But this was impeded by the presence of the South Node in Libra. It is considered inauspicious to create talismans when the planet in question is applying to the South Node, so I had to let go of the idea of making “proper” talismans.
Instead, I decided to celebrate Venus’s long-awaited ingress into Libra to experiment. I came up with a bath salts recipe, only to be used by me, on the Friday & Venus hour that Venus was in Libra. The distinction is important: to make “true” talismanic wares in the likes of what I offer on Materia Girl, my astro magical shop, extremely precise conditions must be reunited. The planet I’m making a talisman under must be dignified (by sign, or concentrate other dignities by decan, term etc.) & free of affliction (no squares or opposition to any planets, no application to the malefics or South Node) and so should the Moon, and the planet must be rising or culminating (within 8° of the ASC/MC), during its own planetary hour…
Whew! That’s a lot of conditions! And yet wholly necessary to the “talismanic grade” appellation. This is why I don’t offer products for sale that haven’t been duly elected, appropriately consecrated at the right time, tested & extensively divined on! There is simply too much at stake, and if not cautious unpredictable effects can arise from such objects.
This is why I offer two options for this DIY Venus bath salts recipe: 1) you can make them at any time during this Venus in Libra transit (from September 4 to September 22, 2024) — I still recommend making them during Venus hour and/or on Friday (the day of Venus) for increased potency. These aren’t “talismanic grade” per say, but will still allow to enjoy a pleasant sensory experience under the influence of Venus, 2) use the election I provide you with to make and consecrate your bath salts. An election’s timing must be respected to be effective, and this timing will vary depending on your location. I provide some locations & their timing at the end of this article. For your bath salts to be truly talismanic and magickally effective, you must follow the process to the letter — this is the only option if you’d like to see true results like the ones outlined!

Talisman? Astro Magic? What is it?
To keep it simple, a talisman is an object created at a specific time for magical purposes. Created with specific ingredients depending on its form and goal, a talisman is ensouled with a spirit and can in turn be used to achieve different goals. In the podcast on talismans I recorded with Taalumot, I refer to talismans as “a portable house for your little [spirit] friends”. You can think of talismans as divine, sacred receptacles of a highly dignified spirit-friend that helps you work towards what it is you wish to achieve.

The instructions below will allow you to create your own talismanic bath salts. Creation instructions are pretty simple, and no prior background in (astrological) magic is necessary — only respecting the timing constraints outlined!
All About Venus
In astrology, Venus is the goddess of love, pleasure, friendship, sex, charm and profit. Venus connects, repairs, harmonises and smoothes - she seeks to build relationships and connections between people.
When you invoke Venus, you should ask for these things: for love to find its way to you, to bring happiness, connection and laughter in your life, to make friends or find lovers, to increase your charm, beauty and grace. She is also known to bring money, profit and riches, so when invoking her you can politely request these things and wish for more financial or material abundance.
When consecrating your talismanic bath salts (in the little ritual outlined below), you can ask for all of these things. Then, when you use them (preferably on Venus hour and day — Friday — or her night — Monday night), you can sprinkle them in your bath and repeat your intentions again, invoking Venus. As you soak in the bath, repeat your intentions and visualise yourself attaining your goal: attracting love & good fortune.
As you create an altar to venus to consecrate your bath salts, I recommend using an image to invoke Venus. According to astrological mage Cornelius Agrippa in his Three Books of Occult Philosophy: “The image of Venus according to the sage Beylus is the image of a woman standing on her feet, and in her right hand she holds an apple.” You can use the image I provide below, print it at home and place it on your altar for the purpose of this ritual, and if you ever want to invoke Venus!
